Amy Mielke

Owner

Amy is an award winning filmmaker who has been working in Film & Television for over ten years. She got her start in Toronto as an editor, at the internationally recognized editorial company Panic & Bob, and has experience working on narrative films, documentaries, commercials and music videos.

In 2022, Amy and her creative partner Brittney Gavin established their own venture, A+B Roll Films, a significant move that has broadened Amy’s filmmaking experience by enabling her to produce and direct her own films. Amy most recently produced, directed and edited “Cold Dip”, a short documentary that aired on CBC and is available for streaming on CBC Gem.

Amy is the recipient of the 2024 WIFT-AT Wave Award for her deep-seated work ethic and unwavering commitment to brilliant storytelling. Amy won the WIFT-AT Best Director Award at the 2024 Screen Nova Scotia Awards.

Brittney Gavin

Owner

Brittney is a Nova Scotian filmmaker living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Brittney has experience working on documentaries, narrative films, corporate videos and commercials. Prior to entering the film industry, Brittney worked as a Health Promotion Facilitator throughout Nova Scotia and Alberta. Her previous role focused on addressing the root causes of health inequities and improving population health outcomes. Brittney hopes to bring her passion for enacting social change to all her projects. Brittney began in the film industry as an editor, but has since branched out to produce and direct her own films. In 2022, Brittney started A + B Roll Films with Amy Mielke with the mission of advancing the perspectives of equity-seeking groups through the stories we tell.

Brittney won the WIFT-AT Best Director Award at the 2024 Screen Nova Scotia Awards.
